The Price is the Price

When was the last time you as a consumer walked into a national big box store and said to the sales clerk  “whaddya gonna giv’s me if I buys dis ting from ya here today? Ya knows I gots cash right? OR ” hey buddy I see ya got this ting on for $25 each. If I buys 3 I will give you 30$ for all three them. Never right? Nobody ever does that because they would be looked at by the 15 year they are talking to like you had 6 heads. But that same consumer will walk into a small local business who has no where near the margins to work with like the big store and ask the same questions with emphasis. Now I know not everybody does this and the vast majority of peeps will pay an honest price to an honest business person. But there are folks who would ask the small business owner for a discount even if they were giving it away. Jeez, just about drives ya to drinking at 8am on a Sunday morning, just about got me drove. Why do you think them big box places have 50 and 75 % off sales? It aint cause they are not making money. Its because they have huge/ global buying power and even at what is perceived as a great deal they are still making money. Holy jumped up merciful, and don’t get me started on them online fellas with no bricks and mortar in the local economy and dont pay taxes either…..freaking buggers!!

I say its time to give the little guys and break and pay what they feel as business owners, need to make a profit so they can pay their bills. Like electricity, telephone, water, employees, suppliers, taxes, training, tools, equipment, buildings and maintenance, advertising, bank charges, rent, workers compensation, vehicles repairs and credit card charges. Pay themselves and decent living and maybe just maybe there is enough left over to turn a profit so when little Johnny or Jill’s hockey coach comes into the store for a donation. He or she is able to help out and give back to their community that they love and want to stay in and raise their families in.   Small businesses have all this and more to contend with every day. So the next time you feel a discount is in order from a small business…..think again. We are all in this together people, Lets help to make small business and our local communities and local economies a better place to work and live…..that’s it for me folks, I’m outta here….Slim Shambbles out.

Thanks from Jason Tozer

Jason Tozer personally thanked our sales associate Shelly Scott for offering Peace of Mind with his purchase of his new Arctic Cat 700. Jason purchase our Peace of Mind Service Package. Jason just drops his bike off and leaves the keys. When we’re done he picks the bike up and he’s off. He said it was so nice to get his bike serviced and not have to worry about fees!

Tourist alive and well according to Slim Shambles

Tourism is alive and well in Amherst N.S……I’m telling ya they are coming from all over and leaving their hard hard earned dollars right here in downtown Amherst. So for all you local “Chicken Little”the sky is falling folks” out there who think “nobody would come to Amherst they are just driving right on by”. Got some news for ya.  Every week them folks at M.A.R.S. have got people traveling hours to come to Amherst and they are not just dropping $$ at M.A.R.S. They are eating here, over-nightin’ here, filling their gas tanks here and yes local shopping here. If that’s not tourism I don’t know what is.  So don’t give me your “nothing happens in this town ” OR “this place sucks”. Newsflash!!  Look around people!!!! And not your door yards dummies. You live in one of the best counties in the best province, in best country in the world. World hunger, terrorism, refugees, dictators. Geeze suck it up and smell the coffee. Maybe try and support a local business a bit more. Maybe volunteer, maybe write a positive “letter to the editor”, maybe say hi to a stranger. Maybe stop lippin’ off on Facebook. Maybe stop watching the News. Maybe just take a walk and breath the fresh air. Some people would give anything for the place. What would you do for this place? We’ll I’m outta here.

Thank you from S. and S.

Not a problem at all.  S. and I are very very pleased with the service and your positive response to his queries when he emailed you from the beginning. He was so happy to receive a new one in the box so to speak.  He keeps his “toys” in immaculate condition.  He rides bicycles and has several (road bikes) and he cleans them after every ride, if you saw them you would think they are new and he rides like thousands of kms on them every year.  We own a 2004 dodge viper and it is in showroom condition, (does not go out in the rain )  He will spend hours polishing and cleaning his “toys”.

Thanks very much.  I will look you up on facebook tonight (I am at work) and certainly like your page.

See you in 250 kms.

S.

Thanks from NS Metro Area

“Thoroughly enjoyed working with Shelly and the MARS store team. Great experience and great service. Due to some financial complications I was previously declined on a loan and the MARS sales team gave me expert advice on how to rebuild my credit. Now just 6 months later I have my new Arctic Cat 4 wheeler and a free trailer. Fantastic experience, highly recommended!”
